Mauritania Technology Fosters
Tradition  (TFT)

Welcome to the TFT website!

What is TFT?

Mauritania Technology Fosters Tradition (TFT) is a research-cum-action initiative in Mauritania. It is supported by, among others, the World Bank, the German Development Cooperation (GTZ), the Community-Based Natural Resource Management Network (CBNRM Net), and the Global Legal Information Network (GLIN).

TFT aims to safeguard the Sahelian environment through empowering local people to transform the present exploitation of natural resources into a more efficient and sustainable management model centered on them as key decision makers.

The fundamental approach to implementation reflects parallel and reciprocal emphases on, on the one hand, implementing the initial project concept and, on the other hand, understanding this as an unfolding and adaptive process.

About this website

Given this adaptive process to implementation, it follows that it was necessary to create an overall website architecture that reflects this fundamental approach. It follows that the overall site architecture - including the main Sections About, Organization, Approaches, Methodology, Activities, Output, Processes, and Monitoring and evaluation, and their lower-level categories - reflects this unfolding implementation. Individual pages are added, removed, and/or updated on a regular basis.

Other key Sections and elements include: Section Resources contains the project's output together with other material and knowledge, gathered for easy reference, viewing and downloading. Section Administration contains tools to enhance the usability of the site. The Staff work area is for the project's partners, project staff, and the Advisory Committee. French language versions key pages will gradually be available. The Friendly Printout gives a stripped-down version that basically includes only the text and not the side bars, and renders the page in black and white.

The TFT Newsletter is sent out intermittently. If you are interested in learning about the TFT write to us and request it (include name, location and occupation).
